I specialise in workplace investigations and complex employee relations, supporting organisations to navigate sensitive, high-risk and often challenging people issues.
At the heart of my work is problem solving - helping organisations bring clarity, structure and sound judgement to situations that can otherwise feel difficult or uncertain.
I bring over 19 years of experience in HR, starting my career in corporate environments before moving into independent consultancy.
Since then, I’ve worked with organisations across a range of sectors, from fast-paced tech and manufacturing businesses to education and charities, supporting them through growth, change and complex people challenges. I have a particular affinity for start-ups and scaling organisations and understand the realities and pressures that come with rapid development.
I hold a BA (Hons) in International Business and French, alongside a postgraduate CIPD qualification, and I am an active member of the CIPD.
Alongside this, I am a TCM accredited workplace (HR) investigator, specialising in complex, sensitive and high-risk cases with a trauma-informed approach.
My work combines:
Robust, legally sound HR practice
Commercial awareness and practical decision-making
A psychologically informed, trauma-aware perspective
This allows me to approach workplace issues not just from a procedural perspective, but with an understanding of people, behaviour and organisational impact.
I am often brought in when situations are:
complex or escalating
sensitive or high-risk
emotionally or politically challenging
requiring independence and objectivity
I bring a calm, structured and proportionate approach, helping organisations move forward with clarity and confidence.
Alongside my HR work, I am a trainee psychotherapist, currently studying for a PG Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy.
This is not about bringing therapy into the workplace; but it does mean I bring a deeper understanding of:
how people experience conflict and stress
how behaviour and communication impact outcomes
how psychological safety influences engagement
I apply this insight in a practical way to support more effective conversations, better evidence gathering, and more considered decision-making and always with a trauma-informed approach.
Clients describe me as:
calm and steady in difficult situations
approachable and easy to work with
clear and direct when needed
fair, balanced and impartial
pragmatic and commercially realistic
I take a human but robust approach - supporting people through difficult situations while ensuring fairness, clarity and appropriate outcomes.
My expertise includes:
workplace investigations
complex disciplinary and grievance cases
bullying and harassment concerns
conflict and breakdown in working relationships
supporting managers with difficult conversations
I am comfortable navigating the most challenging situations and helping organisations reach outcomes that are both fair and workable.
Growing up around a family business and being married to an entrepreneur has given me a real understanding of the realities of running an organisation.
This shapes the support I provide, ensuring it is always:
proportionate
practical
evidence based
mindful of risk, time and cost
aligned with how organisations actually operate
Outside of my professional work, I am committed to continuous learning and development. I also serve as Vice Chair of Governors at my children’s school, where I contribute my HR expertise in a different context.
When I’m not working, I enjoy beekeeping, pottery and spending time in the beautiful surroundings of Hay-on-Wye.
I prioritise the wellbeing and psychological safety of individuals in every piece of work I undertake. Whether supporting a workplace investigation or navigating a complex employee relations issue, I take a trauma-informed and human approach that is mindful of the impact processes can have on people.
My aim is to ensure individuals feel respected, heard and treated fairly, even in difficult or high-stakes situations.
I recognise that workplace situations are often uncomfortable, uncertain and evolving.
I value flexibility, reflection and continuous learning, and I am not afraid to adjust my approach when needed. I see challenge and complexity as part of growth, both for individuals and organisations and I support people in moving through change constructively rather than avoiding it.
I believe in open, honest communication and creating space for different perspectives to be heard.
I act as a critical friend, encouraging fairness, reflection and constructive challenge. My approach is grounded in respect, while also maintaining clarity around accountability, behaviour and decision-making.
I promote a culture where people feel safe to speak openly, while also taking responsibility for their actions and outcomes.
